Dear Carl,
Words cannot describe (but I'll try!) how absolutely thrilled I am with my recent MOTOmed Viva purchase. This is such a fabulous piece of equipment!

I've had MS for 16+ years. My attitude has always been "The less I do, the less I'll be able to do"; thus I've always tried to be active. Unfortunately, over the last year, my ability to do so has deteriorated significantly. This has resulted in significant swelling, discoloration, and stiffness in my legs and arms.

I've tried various techniques and products to improve my current condition, so I was intrigued when I saw your website. I appreciate the literature you sent, and I'm especially grateful for your patience in answering all my questions. The product brochures looked and sounded wonderful, though I'll admit some concern about spending such a chunk of money. Well, there is no doubt in my mind that this purchase has been the best investment in my overall health!

My skin color is now significantly better - almost normal. All that extra oxygen being pumped around has to help! Certainly the decreased risk of gangrene or stroke is benefit enough. I remain in awe of the engineering forethought and design that went into this MOTOmed Viva. The multitude of variations and adjustments allow for precise individual tailoring, even as my abilities change.

It has been a pleasure doing business with you! You may certainly use me as a reference for anyone who may have any questions.

Thank you!!

Sincerely,
Albert Maraziti

Dear Carl,
The new "bike" is working great! In fact today, June hardly needed much time at all to really get moving. Thanks for all your help in setting it up, making sure I know how it works, and making sure June's feet and ankles work correctly.

The aides have already noticed an improvement.

Certainly has been a pleasure working with you.

Sincerely,

To Whom It May Concern:

In June, 1990 our daughter sustained a severe head injury due to a car accident. As a result of this injury she is unable to have purposeful movement in her arms, legs and she cannot speak.

After being released from rehab 4 years ago we have cared for her at home continuing her rehabilitation with various therapies. In spite of doing range of motion 2 to 3 times a day she developed foot drop and deep vein thrombosis.

I was introduced to the Reck Moto-Med by a friend who purchased one for her daughter who has similar injuries. I was able to purchase the Moto-Med in March of this year.

It is so good to see Cherl exercising independently of having others exercising for her. The swelling in her leg (due to the DVT) has decreased significantly, her achille tendons and ankles have softened and loosened greatly, therefore, having more range of motion. Her legs and feet are also warmer and do not turn blue because of increased circulation.

Cherl also has had a lot of congestion in her bronchia due to lack of movement in her upper body. When using the arm trainer she is able to expel this mucus successfully.

I would strongly recommend this wonderful piece of equipment to anyone having physical disabilities to help with their recovery. I also believe it can help emotionally because one can exercise independently of others giving a sense of hopefullness and not helplessness.

Sincerely,

Dear Steve,

I'm later than promised, but here are a few thoughts. More than you wanted I know, but just use whatever bits you like.

"It's twelve years since a hang gliding accident put me in a wheelchair with only the use of one arm. I always wanted to exercise, but it's been impossible without help.

Then I purchased a RECK MOTOmed machine.

  • There was no hair growing on my lower legs due to poor circulation. After just one week with the machine, hairs began growing. A lot of money for a hair restorer perhaps, but now after two months there have been other, more significant changes.

  • I am getting stronger. Transfers are improving. I don't tire as quickly.

  • My paralysed shoulder was often painful. The pain has virtually gone.

  • I could only roll one way in bed, not I can roll in either direction.

  • Paralysis often brings a feeling of uselessness which can easily evolve into depression. The extra energy makes me want to do more. The more I do, the fitter I get, the better I feel.

  • There have been no great miracles, but lots of little ones.

  • The beauty of the machine is that I can do arm exercises at any time without help. This gets my lungs and heart working more. I still need help to get my legs on the machine, but I can stay there for an hour if I wish, and get myself off it without any help.

All the best,

Grahame W.

Ms. Beverley Brown,

My name is Naomi Freller and I have Multiple Sclerosis. I am a member of the Toronto Chapter, the York South Chapter and the Scarborough Chapter. I have recently become a member of Variety Village and it benefits me greatly.

My reason for writing is simple. Aside from other exercises at Variety Village there is a piece of equipment available to all who attend. It is called a Moto-Med. It electrically pedals your legs as well as allows you to add any of your own power available. Of all the people who use it at least 95% of those have MS. I have met a lot of them and should you need further information on it's effectiveness you can ask the many users and the staff members at the Village. I must add that all with whom I spoke benefit. However Variety Village has only two such machines. On most occations a list needs to be made, giving times for each individual an opportunity to use it. People would shoot each other to use it as it brings so much benefit.

Aside from speaking to other users of the machine I know the benefits I experience for myself.

  1. Normally my legs are very stiff due to poor circulation, among other things -- after use my legs are no longer stiff.

  2. Normally my legs tremor -- after use there is no more tremor.

  3. Due to poor circulation my legs are always cold -- after use my legs are warm and my feet are not warm but hot.

  4. My legs are normally like two lead pipes -- after use they are light.

It is evident that this machine provides benefits not experienced by ANYTHING presently available to people with MS and with NO side effects. MS is an awful disease but we have decided to go on in spite of it.

Dear Bill,

I have experienced the pleasure of owning a RECK MOTO-MED for some nine months now. I was introduced to this device at the 'People in Motion' exhibit in Toronto last year.

From the onset, I was particularly interested in this piece of equipment as I have had Multiple Sclerosis for the past 10 years. I am restricted to the use of a wheelchair. The use of the Moto-Med has now allowed me the option of both passive and active exercise from my chair. I have no reservations in recommending this equipment as an exerciser as well as a personal confidence builder. In addition, the service and follow up to your initial sale has been very assuring.

Kindest regards,

To Whom It May Concern:

In July, 1989, at age 17, our daughter sustained a traumatic brain injury involving both sides of her brain. She was in a coma for approximately 3 months. Because of the seriousness and location of the injury, Mikki is now a quadraplegic, unable to purposefully move her arms and legs or speak.

She was hospitalized and, in rehabilitation hospitals for approximately 8 months. We have, for the past 4 years, continued her rehabilitation in our home with the help of various therapists. I still felt that Nikki needed more movement and exercise to help with circulation. While visiting friends in Canada, I was introduced to the Reck Moto Med that was being used by another brained-injured young person. I was intrigued by the unique structure and capabilities of this machine, especially the "spasm control" and my daughter has very painful, continual spasms.

After further study and observation of the machine in use, we purchased the Reck Moto Med "Pico" with arm trainers. After using it for several months the results are exciting to say the least. Her circulation has improved, the bowel and bladder problems eliminated and as an added bonus, her mood has greatly improved. She is very much aware of what she has lost and of course is very depressed. I believe by "working out" on the machine alone, she feels some control over her life. This is something that she can do without everyone having their hands on her and she feels better about herself.

In the past years since Nikki's accident. I have been exposed to many different types of equipment but none that can compare with the exciting Moto Med and its abilities to help not only physically, but emotionally. I wish that everyone with physical disabilities, no matter what the cause, could have access to the benefits of this unique piece of equipment to help them proceed to recovery and pain-free living.

Sincerely,

Charleen
